Fareham Town FC suffered a second defeat in a week after being beaten 2-1 by Blackfield & Langley.

Eager to get their form back, they ventured out with a strong squad despite injuries to some first team members.

Fareham had the best of the chances in the first half when Gary Austin found space before laying the ball back to Graham Lindsey, he placed his shot well but the keeper was equal to it with a great save.

Austin also had a half chance but saw his attempt blocked by the defender.

Fareham definitely meant business in this game as they continued to play great football in front of their home fans.

And they were rewarded with their good work at the beginning of the second half.

The Creeksiders took the lead when a cross wasn’t dealt with allowing James Roden to strike at goal. His attempt hit the bar before falling kindly to Graham Lindsey to give the Creeksiders the lead.

But the joy was short lived as Blackfield & Langley fought back in the cold to claim the win.

But that was not the worst part for Fareham.

Three players needed to be substituted during the game, while Dougie Rowe, Keiron Lewis and Gary Austin also picked up small niggles but had to stay on the pitch.

The defeat leaves Fareham Town in eighth place, while Blackfield edge closer to the top teams after a crucial win.

The Creeksiders will hope some of their injured players can be fit enough for their next match which is on Saturday March 2. The game is against Horndean in the Sydenham Wessex Premier League.
